The Oberoi Bali – Paradise in Earth

Bali was a place which was in my wish list for long. So when our company announced that we will be having the year’s annual retreat at Bali, I was super excited. We had a 3 Days 2 Night outing to Bali and the stay was arranged at The Oberoi Bali, Seminyak. Wow… I never expected that I will be staying in an Oberoi Hotel some time in my life.

I had much expectation from the stay and my expectations didn’t go wrong. We reached Bali by noon and the staff and van from Oberoi was ready to receive us at the Airport. There was a bit of traffic and we took around 40 minutes to reach the magnificent Oberoi Resort.

We were all greeted with flower garlands at the entrance and taken to the reception, where we were provided with welcome drink. The Luggage was taken care of by the Hotel staff itself. After the initial formalities, we were allotted rooms and were guided to the rooms by the staff.

Oberoi Bali is next to beach and so there is always breeze. When we were waiting at the reception, cool breeze was always welcoming us to the inside of the Resort. On the way to the rooms, there is the restaurant, bar, swimming pools etc.

I was staying in the LUXURY LANAI ROOM. Even though it is the basic room in Oberoi Bali, it was not short of luxury and was spacious enough. The bed was very comfortable. The Aircon is cool enough and we can have a good sleep. Every day, they changed the fruit platter in the room and it was tasty and fresh as well.

There was a 32” LED television and the selection of channels was ok; but not that great.
There is a small sofa and a changing area and wardrobe with all necessary stuff. The bathroom was very spacious as well and there was sunken marble bathtub and handheld shower. There was a wide selection of toiletries as well.

A special mention to the housekeeping staff of Oberoi Bali. Every day, I went out leaving the room in a mess. But when I am back at night, the room will be back to what it should be and everything is arranged properly also.

The sunset view from Oberoi Bali is something that everyone who stays there will cherish. It is a spectacular view and shouldn’t be missed. The sight of the sun slowly going down to the ocean is a refreshing feel.

The restaurant serves ala carte menu. There is selection of Indian, Indonesian and Continental food items. There is no buffet as such, unless we request as we did for the company tea party. I was told that it is due to hygienic reasons in the warm climate they are not having buffet. So, expect some waiting time after food is ordered.

Food is very tasty and the portion is sufficient enough. Since ours was a company event, the food was taken care of by company. The price is standard for a 5 star hotel. There is bar as well. But I didn’t bother to have a try, mainly because of the cost. Seminyak is an area where you can find lot of places to eat and drink at much less price. So it is not a big deal.

There was spa inside Oberoi. But, as with a 5 star hotel, it was expensive. Swimming pool was clean and well maintained. The beach is not that clean though and the waves were very strong. I was told that beaches are open to general public and that is the reason for it to be unclean.

Oberoi Bali is spread across a vast area and it is well maintained. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. There was rain on the last day and they provided all with big umbrellas as well. They even allowed late checkout, as our return flight was late in the evening.

All in all it was a nice experience at the Oberoi Bali and they made my first experience of Bali memorable. It is an expensive place to stay, but well worth the stay and it can be really said to be a Paradise in Earth.
