Welcome Back Review – Not at all Welcome

welcome back

Welcome Back, the sequel to the movie Welcome which was released 7 years, got released last week and I went to watch it, as I liked Welcome a lot and was expecting something similar or better. But in one word, Welcome Back is Disgusting. Its  more that that and Welcome Back is a movie that is testing the patience of viewers to the extreme level. Welcome Back is a huge disappointment from the makers of Welcome

Coming to the plot of Welcome Back. Uday Shetty and Majnu Bhai, played by Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor respectively, have left their bad past behind and have moved to UAE where they have become decent guys and legal businessmen . They are still desperate to get married and fell for the same girl. But in comes Uday’s fathers’ 3rd wife daughter, played by Shruti Hassan and they need to fix her marriage first. The search for the match for her leads to Ajju Bhai, a gangster, played by John Abraham, whose is the step son of Dr. Ghungroo, played by Paresh Rawal. Uday and Majnu was not aware that Ajju is a gangster initially. How things turn out when they find it out forms the rest of the movie.

Performance wise, Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar have given their best shot n Welcome Back. But that is not enough to save the movie. Performances by others especially John Abraham, Shruti Hassan, Dimple Kapadia and Naseeruddin Shah are a big let down. John was a big waste in the movie and I felt he just wanted to show off his abs and body.. One will really miss the sweet Akshay Kumar of Welcome here.

Welcome Back is slapstick comedy at its worst height ever. I really don’t understand why people still make movies like this. The climax of Welcome Back is really unbearable and horrible. I dont think many people will wait till that time and if you do so, like me, its an achievement. Its good to give Welcome Back a miss, unless you have lots of free time and money or you want to see Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar in full comic avatar.. Hope there is no more Welcome Back
