The first half of our second day at Phuket consisted of Private Phang Nga Bay Tour by longtail boat.
We started by 7.30am from our hotel, where our minivan and guide were ready to pick us up. Our guide told that it will take some 2 hours to reach Phang Nga Bay. So we had a small nap on the way also
We went to Wat Suwan Kuha cave temple first. It’s a very unusual temple which is located inside a large limestone cave and there are a lot of monkeys at the entrance and Buddha statues inside the cave, a very interesting place. Inside have got dark caves at which we can do some sort of trekking.
There was opportunity to feed the monkeys. But we saw them climbing on to the body of the people feeding them and since my kids got scared, we dropped that plan and proceeded to the minivan to our journey towards the little pier where our longtail boat was awaiting us to take us to Phang Nga Bay.
After hopping on to the boat, we started our journey towards James Bond Island. The sea was very calm and the trip was really enjoyable. We saw many islands on the way and reached James Bond Island
There were many people there. We walked through the small caves there and posed near the rocks. Our guide said, in between rocks used to fall down also. We had some photo sessions and some slight souvenir purchase and proceed to the boat for our lunch destination, after spending some time at James Bond Island.
After this, there is opportunity to do canoeing, where we will have a close look to a great environment, through the caves and passageways dug by the water through the centuries in the limestone walls and in the mangroves.
After that we proceed to the Koh Panyee Sea Gypsy village. This village is set up in the sea. There are around 300 families living here. They even have a floating football field setup in the village and a school and many souvenir shops. Every house front is a shop.
We proceeded for our lunch at the restaurant there. It was a grand lunch, with lots of items in the menu and we were very much full. We were given snapper fish, which was their signature item. It was really tasty.
After lunch, we proceeded back to pier on the longtail boat. The water level had risen by that time and our guide told its high tide. After reaching pier, we proceeded to our minivan and back to hotel
The only downside during this Phang Nga Bay Tour is that while the nature, culture and landscapes are beautiful, in Phang Nga Bay the water is green and muddy and they are not really nice beaches. So if you are looking for nice beaches and clear water maybe for some good snorkelling, you will have to go to a different place instead of Phang Nga.
This tour was also a good experience and thanks to Easy Day Thailand who recommended and arranged this. The food was also really awesome. The Private Phang Nga Bay Tour has a good value for money and most importantly being a private tour only for you, the timing is very flexible and it’s easy for the kids.
Furthermore, the guide will be there only for you and she really took very good care of our kids. This tour also allows doing a bit of everything, since its split into a boat part and a land-based one. So it’s especially good for those like us, who don’t have many days to explore Phuket and surroundings.
The entire trip costed us 9,500 THB
