As its long weekend here in Singapore, I am in a mood to watch some movies. So I decided to watch the movie “TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS”, the newly released Hindi Movie, today. I know I am a bit late with review. But I feel it’s worth the wait. To start with, it’s a sequel to the movie, Tanu Weds Manu, released some years ago, which was a hit film
The movie starts with the wedding scenes of Tanu and Manu, played by Kangna and Madhavan respectively. After the titles are over, life sets to 4 years after their marriage, where both are standing in front of a mental rehabilitation and recovery centre in London. Madhavan looks cool after all these years, but looks to have put in some weight. Kangna is lovely as always…
So let me come to the point. Tanu and Manu’s marriage broke after 4 years and she made him get admitted to mental hospital and then returns to India, but ensures that he gets released from there. Manu also comes back to India after a brief stay at the mental hospital. Then he sends a divorce notice to Tanu to end their relation.
When Tanu reaches back home, she plays the role of the spoilt girl to much perfection and goes back to meet up with Raja Awasthi, played by Jimmy Sheirgill, who happens to be her ex lover, who is on the verge of getting married. Around the same time when Manu reaches Delhi, he came across a very bubbly Kusum, played by Kangna herself. The very moment Manu sees her, he falls in love with her. He starts following her and ultimately convinces her and her relatives for marrying him. Whatever Manu expected in Tanu, he finds in Kusum.
Meanwhile, a friend of Tanu, Chintu, tries to take advantage of her and manages to threaten Manu with a divorce notice, without Tanu’s Knowledge. Frustrated and aggravated by this action, Manu ultimately decides to marry Kusum. Realizing that her husband is about to marry Kusum, Tanu lands up with Raja and others at the venue.
Will Tanu understand her marital mistakes and be able to stop Manu from marrying Kusum? Does Manu actually love Tanu or Kusum? This is what forms the rest of the film. I am not going to reveal any more of the plot. It’s best to watch yourself in theatres.
The film belongs to Kangna. It can be rightly said that its one of her best career performance after the movie Queen. Queen itself had made me a fan of Kangna and this movie confirms that. She really knows how to carry the film forward. I think Kusum overtakes Tanu in performance. It’s really good to see Madhavan after a long time. His simplicity and approach to his character makes him really loveable and let me say, his smile is really cute.
The remaining characters also did justice to their roles and the one liners played by the character Pappi are really cute and it carries the movie well forward. The music is OK and fits well to the mood.
Overall, TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS is a really must watch movie, especially for Kangna’s mind blowing performance and the really outstanding plot. To me it’s a Blockbuster. It has already entered the 100 crore club, as of now. So watch the movie and have a nice feeling.
The sadness that we feel when we are about to loose the most precious thing in our life; the guilt feeling that we get when we are about to loose something that we cherish in our life, is what TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS is all about. A movie that will make us laugh and think in 2 hours time. A must watch for couples. Do watch it guys. You won’t feel bad…
